Norwich City hope to extend their lead at the top of the table when they host Swansea City tonight.

Graham Potter’s side have slim hopes of fighting their way into play-off contention but are seven points off sixth-placed Bristol City at present, knowing a win is the only result to help claw back the deficit.

The Canaries saw off struggling Millwall last weekend to move back to the summit of the second tier, and have won their last three in a row.

Compare that to the Swans’ indifferent form, losing half of their previous six matches.

Ahead of the game, Sky Sports offered some early team news from both camps ahead of this evening’s kick-off at Carrow Road.

Starting with the hosts, and Daniel Farke is without Todd Cantwell who is still recovering from a thigh injury but has resumed training.

Striker Carlton Morris also remains out with an ankle problem

Defender Ivo Pinto is in contention to be selected for the Canaries having overcome a foot problem.

Louis Thompson is to step up his rehab from a knee injury next week and should return to the side after the international break but is sure to miss this evening’s meeting with the Welsh team.

To the visitors now, and Potter will be unable to call upon the services of his captain Leroy Fer tonight as he continues to recover from a hamstring problem that is set to keep him out until after the international break.

Joe Rodon is continuing his rehabilitation from a broken metatarsal which he suffered in the middle of January as he remains in the treatment room.

Finally, long-term absentee Martin Olsson is still on the comeback trail from a ruptured Achilles.

The verdict

Norwich have a strong squad and less severe injuries – and with that, they can build continuity.

That is conducive to positive results, and it is evident with the Canaries top of the tree at the moment.

Swansea have a battle on their hands to win a game that could see their play-off hopes remain alive.

It is sure to be an interesting match with both sides needing the points for their respective goals.
