Barnsley will be trying to avoid losing three consecutive Championship matches for the first time since February when they travel to Birmingham on Tuesday evening.

Valerien Ismael had enjoyed a dream start to life in the Oakwell hot seat, winning four of his first five matches in charge, but narrow defeats against Brentford and Blackburn have given the Frenchman food for thought ahead of tomorrow's clash at St Andrew's.

Despite those two losses, the Tykes are still well-placed in the second-tier standings, and are already eight points better off than this stage 12 months ago - meaning they're already six points clear of the danger-zone.

However, Ismael has a few injury worries ahead of the game against the Blues, and provided an update on the fitness of his squad when speaking to Barnsley's official website earlier on today.

Struber? Heckingbottom? Who was the Barnsley manager when each of these 15 Tykes moments happened?

He confirmed that Jordan Williams, who missed the two recent defeats through injury, remains sidelined, but in better news, defender Aapo Halme could make his first appearance since the win over Derby County earlier this month, but only on one condition.

"Jordan Williams will still be out for the match at Birmingham City tomorrow, but Aapo Halme should be back, if he gets through training today," Ismael admitted.

The Verdict

Overall this is good going for Ismael. At a time when squads are barraged with injuries, having one absentee is a pretty good outcome at this stage in the campaign.

With that in mind, expecting a reaction from his side after recent results, they've got more than enough to go to St Andrew's and win, even on the back of two defeats.
