Sheffield United striker Leon Clarke is currently undergoing intensive recovery sessions as the club push for him to be fit for West Brom clash, report the Sheffield Star

Clarke missed last weekend's clash with Reading after aggravating a previous injury in the 3-2 win against Brentford last month.

The 33-year-old was the club's top-scorer last season on their return to the Championship scoring a total of 30 goals in 84 appearances, scoring three times this season as well.

Chris Wilder's side moved into third place on the weekend thanks to a 2-0 win against Reading at the Madjeski Stadium thanks to goals from Billy Sharp and an own-goal from Sam Baldock.

With West Brom dropping points against Aston Villa they were able to hop above their Friday night opponents by just one point.

They may be in third-place but still sit five points behind second-placed Leeds United with 21 matches played.

The verdict

I suspect Sheffield United and Clarke will make sure this is sorted.

Having played for Wolves twice previously in his career, and having grown up in the area, Clarke will be desperate to face his former club's arch Black Country rivals.

The fitness of the Blades' squad has been admirable so you have to think the backroom staff will be able to sort him in time.
