Portsmouth manager Kenny Jackett has provided an update on the fitness of his squad ahead of this weekend's clash with Altrincham in the FA Cup.

The main headline from the update was that centre-back Sean Raggett was back in contention to start after picking up a knock against Harrogate in the previous round.

However, he also confirmed that the game will come too soon for Tom Naylor and Ross McCrorie, although he did say they were not far away from full fitness.

Can you name Portsmouth’s club player of the season from the last 15 years?

“Sean has trained with us again and is available to play on Saturday in the cup," Jackett told his pre-march press conference, reported by the club's official website.

“But other than that, we’ll be working with the same group of players that were involved against Rotherham.

“Next week is a more realistic target for both Tom and Ross and they’ll both have the Peterborough game in mind.”

Portsmouth picked up another big win on Tuesday night when they saw off Rotherham United 3-2 at Fratton Park, moving them to within two points of the League One play-off places.

It is the latest in the growing run of impressive showings after a start to the season which saw the club come under perssure to sack Jackett.

Pompey have now won their last four games in all competitions and are unbeaten in the league since a 1-0 loss to Wimbledon back in October.

The verdict

This will definitely be a boos to Portsmouth.

Shortly before his injury, Raggett had shown how important he can be to the club, particularly with his displays against Lincoln, Doncaster and Bolton.

He looks like somebody who will still have a big part to play in getting Portsmouth to where they want to be so it will be a bonus for Jackett to get him intergrated again as soon as possible.
