Millwall manager Gary Rowett has issued a squad update ahead of their midweek clash against Birmingham City, with the Blues making the trip down to south London.

The Lions are in the midst of a poor run of form in the Championship, winning one of their last six games. That continued at the weekend as Millwall went down 1-0 to Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.

However, Birmingham are on an excellent run, and are without a defeat in all competitions since January 4th.

Their unbeaten sequence of results stretched to 11 games at the weekend after a 3-3 draw against Sheffield Wednesday.

Despite that, Millwall have lost just once in their last six meetings with the Blues.

Ahead of the big game, Rowett has provided an update on his Lions squad.

He told London News Online that Jayson Molumby and Shaun Hutchinson played through knocks at the weekend, but should be in line to feature against Pep Clotet's side.

“Jayson Molumby had a tight hamstring at the weekend but got through it. Hutch [Shaun Hutchinson] had a rib [injury] and got through it," he said.

The Millwall boss also said that Mason Bennett featuring on Wednesday will depend how he reacts to his minutes on Saturday.

“I’ll see how the players come in this morning. Mason got 25 minutes and we’ll see how he reacts to that."

Rowett also said he will wait on the fitness of Ryan Leonard, after the midfielder was omitted from the 18-man squad at the weekend with a tight hamstring.

“The question is whether Lenny [Ryan Leonard] is ready to go again," he added.

Shaun Williams will definitely miss out as the midfielder continues to nurse a hip injury.

The Verdict

Millwall will be looking to bounce back in the best possible fashion back at The Den on Wednesday, where they have lost just three times in the league all season.

Rowett will be hoping that Ryan Leonard and Mason Bennett will both be fit for the game, with the latter looking more likely to feature. However, it remains to be seen if the 23-year-old will start.

The last meeting between the sides ended in a 1-1 draw back in November at St. Andrew's.
