Leeds United could go back to the top of the Championship today with a win over Birmingham City at Elland Road.
The Whites currently sit in the top six and well amongst the chasing pack looking to snatch one of the top two places in the division. A win over the Blues would go a long way to restoring some of the confidence in the team, who have struggled for consistency of late.
And according to team news from BBC Sport, Leeds could be handed a major boost with the news that Pablo Hernandez could be handed a recall to the starting XI after missing out in the last month through injury.
Hernandez has been Leeds’ chief creative force this season and it’s clear they have felt his loss in the starting XI, something which was on clear display during the club’s 2-1 loss at Millwall last time out.
However, news of his imminent return could well be a massive boost for the Elland Road crowd, who will be hoping to see the Spaniard back to his best this afternoon.
Hernandez has already contributed twice in both the goals and assists columns this term, highlighting just how important he can be to Leeds’ attacking play.
This is obviously a massive boost for Leeds and will lift the whole of Elland Road if his name on the teamsheet.
Leeds are a good side but Hernandez is the one who makes them tick. If he is indeed named, then Birmingham will be fearful of him turning in his best performance and ensuring three points for the home side.
