Leeds United could be handed a significant injury boost ahead of their clash with Millwall after the international break.

The Whites face a trip to The Den next weekend when the Championship resumes after it’s Autumn interval.

Pablo Hernandez and Gaetano Berardi are set to be fit for the visit to the capital.

More significantly, however, Adam Forshaw is also expected to be in contention to make his return in London on September 15.

That is according to The Yorkshire Post’s Inside Elland Road podcast (26:40), journalist Phil Phay who has given an update on the fitness of the triumvirate of injured first-team players at Elland Road.

Forshaw has not played for Leeds this season after suffering ankle ligament damage in pre-season while Hernandes and Berardi both missed the draw with Middlesbrough through injury.

Hay told the podcast: “We’ve touched on Hernandez’s injury and it looks very likely he’ll be back in training this week and good for Millwall.

“It does sound as well that Berardi will be okay for the Millwall game as well.

“We’re not entirely clear about the nature of his injury but it doesn’t sound major, and the club are optimistic about that. He should be fine.

“I don’t think Adam Forshaw will be far away for Millwall. He will be very close.”

The Verdict

Pablo Hernandez has been in inspired form for Leeds United this season, as has Gaetano Berardi - but the most significant news is that Adam Forshaw could be back in and around the first time this time next week.

The midfielder has missed the whole season so far through injury, and this is a significant update in getting back a player who has the ability to influence a game when called upon.

Formerly of Brentford, Forshaw will effectively be a new signing for Marcelo Bielsa who is yet to have the option to use the  26-year-old in the league.

It will be another number for the impressive squad Bielsa has been afforded.

The triple injury boost will make good reading for Leeds fans ahead of the Millwall clash next weekend.
