Cardiff City manager Neil Harris has delivered an update regarding his team's fitness ahead of thier clash with Leeds United at Elland Road this weekend.

Harris has plenty of history against the Whites from his Millwall days but comes into this one in his new role in South Wales and he delivered a worrying update ahead of this one to the Bluebirds' fans.

"Knocks and bruises unfortunately," he told his pre-match press conference on Friday morning, reported by WalesOnline.

"Few worse. Junior (Hoilett) came off the other evening. Turning everyone around in a short space of time will be difficult. Gary Madine struggled at the end of the game with his back so we have to see how he goes.

"Alex Smithies was unwell the other evening but he should be OK to travel."

QUIZ: Cardiff through the decade: How much do you remember about the 2012/13 season?

Cardiff were beaten 2-1 by Brentford at Griffin Park on Wednesday night, the first defeat from Harris' spell at the club, so he will undoubtedly be hoping to bounce back as soon as possible.

However, The Bluebirds go into this one boasting the better record between the two sides having won three of their last four Championship encounters - although they are yet to clash with Bielsa's side.

The Whites sit at the top of the second-tier table with 21 matches played and show no signs of slowing down, winning their last seven games on the bounce.

The verdict

This is going to be a really tough test for Cardiff and these injuries will not have helped one bit.

Defending against Leeds can be an exhausting task and you almost definitely need a fully fit squad to do it with full effectiveness.

Losing the likes of game changers such as Hoilett and Madine will be huge as well and it will also give a big boost to Bielsa's side - not that they needed one anyway.
