Birmingham City manager Pep Clotet has provided a fitness update to fans ahead of their weekend clash with Nottingham Forest.
The Blues boss revealed that Jacques Maghoma and Kerim Mrabti are both still recovering from injuries suffered during their opening day win against Brentford, but otherwise he has a full squad to pick from.
“Kerim and Mags are still recovering from their opening day injuries,” Clotet told his pre-match press conference, reported on the club’s Twitter account.
“Apart from that we have the same squad available as last weekend.”
The Blues continued their unbeaten start to the Championship season last weekend when they held promotion hopefuls Bristol City to a 1-1 draw at St Andrew’s, following their 1-0 win against the Bees on the opening weekend.
The knocks will most likely mean that Ivan Sunjic will continue in place of Maghoma out wide whilst Lukasz Jutkiewicz will have to lead the line on his own again.
Forest will be eager to bounce back at the City Ground following their opening day defeat to West Brom, so Birmingham will need to be at the top of their game.
Birmingham coped admirably without the pair last weekend so I would back them to do the same again this time around.
Things are going smoothly under Clotet so far after what has been a challenging summer for the club and he will be keen to keep the current feel-good factor going.
However, I suspect they may struggle against Forest and it will be interesting to see how the manager and his players cope when tasked with bouncing back from defeat.
