Derby County manager Phillip Cocu's job is 'hanging by a thread' according to reports in his native Netherlands, after another defeat for the Rams yesterday evening in the Championship.

Derby have started this season very poorly indeed.

Aside from a late win over Norwich City, the Rams have nothing to really show for their efforts this campaign so far, with five defeats in six league games.

They lost to Huddersfield Town last night, of course, and the pressure appears to be ratcheting up on Dutchman Cocu with several reports doing the rounds in recent days that he is going to be relieved from his duties in the very near future.

Now, according to Dutch outlet AD, he is 'hanging by a thread' and set to be let go with them claiming that him having to rely on young players this season is what has led to his downfall.

He remains in the job, of course, but it remains to be seen for how long.

The Verdict

Cocu does seem in firm trouble at the moment.

With a derby game against Nottingham Forest up next, it is perhaps not out of the question that he is now in the last chance saloon at Pride Park.

Indeed, if they lose against the Reds there's surely nowhere for him to go and only a win, you imagine, will grant him a stay of execution for a little while longer.
