Chris Wilder and John Terry won't be in contention to take over from Chris Hughton at Nottingham Forest, according to The Athletic's Daniel Taylor.

There looks set to be a change in the dugout at the City Ground, with Chris Hughton expected to leave Forest after yet another defeat last night.

The Reds lost 2-0 at home to Middlesbrough, with goals from Andraz Sporar and Onel Hernandez condemning them to their sixth defeat of the season.

Reports claim that Hughton is now set to leave Forest, leaving scope for a 14th permanent manager to come in since the summer of 2011.

Chris Wilder and John Terry have both been linked with the job at the City Ground, with the latter coming out and distancing himself from the role earlier this week.

But according to The Athletic's Daniel Taylor, Wilder and Terry are both 'red herrings' and will not be in contention to take over from Hughton should he be relieved of his duties.

Forest sit bottom of the Championship having picked up only one point from their first seven games, and face Huddersfield Town away from home this weekend.

The Verdict

I think Forest's CEO Dane Murphy will go down a similar route to the one he took at Barnsley and look overseas for a new coach.

They need a progressive coach who will bring fresh ideas to the table and play a slightly more attacking formation to get the best out of their offensive players.

No-one had heard of Valerien Ismael when he came to England, so there is going to have to be a little bit of a trust from Forest fans should they go down this route.
