Ezgjan Alioski has gone off the boil for Leeds United in recent weeks after starting the season in impressive fashion

Now, with 19 games gone, Marcelo Bielsa's side find themselves off the top spot and looking to force their way to the summit of the division once more.

Alioski hasn’t scored for United since the end of September and has not registered an assist since October either.

Add to that his yellow card for an apparent dive in the midweek win over Reading, and it looks as if the Macedonian attacker is severely out-of-form.

Having played in all of Leeds’ Championship fixtures this season, he could be a little jaded and need some time out of the team.

If Bielsa is to drop him, there is little else that could compensate for his absence, and if he is kept out the side, then his replacement might well need to be a new addition.

The transfer window opens in little over a month for clubs to do business.

And with that, here are three perfect January replacements Bielsa must consider for Leeds United.

The 22-year-old Portsmouth attacker has been in sensational form for the League One table-toppers this season.

Ronan Curtis has six assists to his name as well as seven goals in a Portsmouth side that look destined for a return to the Championship.

Already outdoing Ezgjan Alioski regarding stats, albeit a league below, should he sign for Leeds there is every expectation he would continue his form and prove to be a worthwhile acquisition.

Under the radar these days but still playing well for Peterborough United, Marcus Maddison could be a player that would benefit from a move to the Championship and showcase his talents on a bigger stage.

If his midweek winner against Wimbledon is anything to go by, he still has the talent in his locker to affect games consistently.

He would be a viable option to replace the Macedonian in the Leeds side in the New Year.

The Sunderland star is having one hell of a season for the Black Cats, who currently sit second in the League One table.

Lynden Gooch has five goals to his name this term, but more impressively he has eight assists.

He has been a standout performer for Jack Ross’ men and is in the final year of his contract.

Should his services interest Marcelo Bielsa, it could be a deal that is less expensive than most considering he would have less than six months to go on his current contract.

It would be a transfer that would be worth a look at ahead of the New Year to inject fresh impetus into the current Leeds attack.
