Leicester City End of Season awards were confirmed Monday night and Danny Drinkwater clinched the most prestigeous award as he was voted the club's player of the year by the fans.

"I'm massively delighted, it's a bit overwhelming to be honest. Every single player could have won the award this season. It's hard to put it down to anything, but the manager, the staff and the players have all prepared for promotion and I think that's shown", the 24-year-old told Leicester's official website after picking up the award.

Drinkwater additionally finished third in the race for the Championship Player of the Season, and clinched a slot in the PFA Championship Team of the Year as well. The icing on the cake in terms of individual awards was picking up the goal of the season award for this absolute thunderbolt volley against Watford. (Watch the strike on YouTube here.)

The former Manchester United academy player has provided great passing ability to the Foxes' game this season, both attempting (2807) and completing (2301) more passes than anyone in the league. 56 of the passes are classified by Squawka.com as key passes and three of them have indirectly ended up on the scoresheet, counting as assists. For comparison, Leeds' Ross McCormack have completed 92 key passes, most in the league, and Burnley's Kieran Trippier is the assist king with 14 contributions.

Drinkwater is not the only ex-United player enjoying success at King Power Stadium these days, as Matty James picked up the Young player of the Year award.
