A number of Nottingham Forest supporters have been hailing the latest comments from defender Joe Worrall about Joao Carvalho being potentially ‘massive for Forest in the future.’

Carvalho is facing an uncertain future in the summer when he returns to the City Ground from his loan spell with Almeria in the Spanish second division. The £13 million signing has not been a regular starter during his loan spell in Spain and he has failed to score a single goal in his 26 appearances, with just 15 of those coming from the start. He has weighed in with three assists though.

The Portuguese playmaker will return to the City Ground in the summer to find Forest in a different place to where they were when he left. Carvalho left for Almeria with Sabri Lamouchi still in charge and in a strong position after nearly taking the club to the play-offs last term. However, Chris Hughton is now at the helm and the Reds have had a very underwhelming campaign.

As a result, many fans have been calling for and hoping for Carvalho to return to the club in the summer and be handed a major role in the side by Hughton. That seems to be something Worrall is also hoping for as well. The defender speaking to a Forest fan as part of the club’s community work suggested that he wants to see the playmaker have a massive future with the club.

He said: “It will be interesting, because obviously we’ve got Carvalho, he’s got to come back from his loan and he’s somebody who could be massive for Forest in the future.”

Many Forest fans were excited by this potential hint on Carvalho and were hoping that Worrall’s assessment of the situation proves to be correct.
