Sunderland have confirmed that the club has signed Cardiff City goalkeeper Lee Camp on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The former Nottingham Forest and Queens Park Rangers man links up with the Black Cats ahead of their must-win clash against Ipswich Town on Saturday, and has a good chance of starting between the sticks against Mick McCarthy’s side.

New manager Chris Coleman was busy on deadline day, with Camp rounding off a successful 24 hours for the former Wales boss.

The 33-year-old had found himself behind Neil Etheridge in the pecking order at The Cardiff City Stadium this term, but will now hope to appear regularly under Coleman and aid the club’s survival hopes.

Sunderland are in big trouble towards the foot of the Championship table, and the threat of back to back relegations is extremely real on Wearside.
