Sunderland have completed the loan signing of Middlesbrough striker Ashley Fletcher on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The former Manchester United trainee joined the Black Cats in the closing hours of the January transfer window last night, and will link up with manager Chris Coleman’s side ahead of their must-win clash with Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Fletcher left Old Trafford for West Ham in 2016, before joining Boro only a year later after failing to break into the first-team set-up under Slavisa Jokanovic.

The 22-year-old also struggled at Boro, but will not join Sunderland’s battle against relegation as a replacement for top scorer Lewis Grabban, who ended his loan spell earlier in the month before joining Aston Villa yesterday evening.
