Marcelo Bielsa leads Leeds United back to Elland Road for the first time in 2020 this weekend, with Sheffield Wednesday in town for a big Yorkshire derby at LS11.

Leeds enter the fixture on the back of a promising festive period, with five points from nine leaving them top of the table, albeit on goal difference.

Additionally, Leeds produced an exceptional first-half performance in their FA Cup defeat to Arsenal on Monday, with the nation sitting up and taking notice of how Bielsa has transformed English football’s ‘Sleeping Giant’.

This weekend, Leeds host Wednesday, who enter the clash after beating Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup last week. However, that doesn’t paint the whole picture, with Garry Monk’s side losing three Championship fixtures over Christmas.

That leaves Leeds as clear favourites, with Steven Fletcher’s extended absence for Wednesday only adding to that.

Monk will have to juggle his absence, but how will Leeds line up?

We take a look…

Starting in goal, despite Illan Meslier’s impressive outing at Arsenal, Kiko Casilla will return, with the Spaniard firmly Bielsa’s first choice.

Ahead of Casilla, there’s a chance we could see a little bit of a reshuffle to Leeds’ usual 4-1-4-1.

Monk’s preference is to play 4-4-2, which might force Bielsa into reverting to a three-man defence.

That would see Liam Cooper, Ben White and Luke Ayling line-up from left to right.

A 3-3-1-3 was used amid Leeds’ seven-game winning run across November and December, with this system a nod to that.

Kalvin Phillips will shield the defence, whilst Barry Douglas and Stuart Dallas flank him as wing-backs. For Douglas, it would be a first league start since August, in the same advanced role that saw him excel whilst with Wolves.

Mateusz Klich should take the No.10 role, whilst a front-three of Jack Harrison, Patrick Bamford and Helder Costa starts, safe in the knowledge that Pablo Hernandez has a chance of returning to the bench.
