Bolton Wanderers manager Dougie Freedman says that the club are trying to get deals done for both Max Clayton and Jordon Ibe, with quotes sourced from Bolton's official Twitter account

Freedman will stay at Bolton
Freedman wants Ibe and Clayton

Wanderers have been linked with the young pair in recent weeks, with a loan deal on the cards for Liverpool winger Ibe, meanwhile Crewe Alexandra forward Max Clayton is on trial at the club, having refused a new deal with the Railwaymen.

Ibe is highly rated at Liverpool, with Brendan Rodgers keen to send the 18 year out on loan, having impressed during a brief stint at Birmingham City towards the back end of last season.

And Freedman set the record straight in his pre match press conference ahead of Bolton's trip to Brighton on Saturday.

Speaking about the potential loan deal for Ibe, Freedman said:  "We've tried to get the loan done going back to last season. We've made another enquiry."

The Bolton boss admitted that the Trotters could lose the race on the Ibe deal, with several Championship clubs keen on his signature.

"There are a few other clubs interested in Jordon now. It seems like we'll probably get pipped at the post."

Freedman then moved onto the forward Max Clayton, who has been training with Bolton recently, as well as a host of other clubs, following a contract saga at Crewe.

Clayton, aged 20 is highly rated by the Bolton boss, however Freedman admits that Bolton's current finances could scupper a deal for Clayton, as they can't stump up the funds that Crewe value the forward at.

"Max is training with us. We like him. We're one of a few clubs far away from Crewe's valuation,"  Freedman continued.

The player has spoke about moving abroad, which is another bitter blow for the Glasgow born manager, who s desperate to sign Clayton in the coming days.

Max has spoken about going abroad. I'm gutted about that because we really want to work with him."
