West Bromwich Albion could be about to make their first addition of the January transfer window following several weeks of being linked with a plethora of players.

According to The Athletic, the Baggies are reportedly close to sealing a loan deal for Sheffield United forward Callum Robinson who is set to undergo a medical at the Hawthorns today.

The 24-year-old, who joined Chris Wilder's side last summer for an undisclosed fee from Preston North End, has struggled considerably with his consistency during the 2019/20 campaign.

Whilst he was able to produce a stunning display against Chelsea last year which saw him provide two direct goal contributions at Stamford Bridge, Robinson's recent displays in the Premier League have been relatively underwhelming.

Having been forced to watch on from the sidelines over the past couple of months, the Republic of Ireland international will be hoping that a move to West Brom will provide him with the chance to play regular first-team football.

Given that Robinson managed to score 13 goals in all competitions last season for Preston, he will be confident in his ability to play a key role in helping the Baggies achieve automatic promotion to the Premier League in May.

Although he has been used as an out-and-out forward by the Blades since his move to Bramall Lane, the former Aston Villa man is also more than capable of operating in a wide role.

After a member of the Real West Brom Fanzone group asked whether Robinson would be a starter for the club, these Baggies fans offered their thoughts on Facebook.

Andy Clark: "Doubtful, but he will be an upgrade on last January's loans Jefferson Montero and Jacob Murphy.

"Sheffield United work as hard as any team so he will arrive fresh and fit at least."

Rajan Moore: "Needs to replace a very poor Matt Phillips in my opinion."

Ally Warren: "Yes."

Ttocs Dandy: "Yeah, he can play up top or as a winger."

Jonathan Stanaway: "Think he is Matt Phillips' replacement."

Jack Santa: "Yes."

Samuel Roberts: "Yeah, in the Championship."

Luke Silvester: "Yes, it'll be good if we get other players too."
