Queens Park Rangers midfielder Massimo Luongo will not feature in today’s game against Burton Albion, according to West London Sport.
Also, Joel Lynch will not return in time for today’s clash either.
Queens Park Rangers manager Ian Holloway had been hopeful that the duo would be fit enough to play in Saturday’s Championship game against Burton Albion at Loftus Road.
Ian Holloway confirmed that Joel Lynch was unavailable earlier in the week but hoped that Massimo Luongo would return from his illness in time to make the match day squad for the match this weekend.
However, Massimo Luongo has now been ruled out of the game.
The Australian international has been struggling with illness and is not able to play.
Defender Joel Lynch has been recovering from a hamstring injury but he is not ready to play just yet and will be rested this weekend as his comeback is delayed.
Alongside the absence of Joel Lynch and Massimo Luongo, there will be no place in the squad for captain Nedum Onuoha (torn hamstring), Grant Hall, James Perch, Steven Caulker and Jordan Cousins.
Massimo Luongo has been a key part of QPR’s midfield this season so he will be sorely missed in the middle of the park.
Quiet but effective, the 24-year-old does his job and keeps things ticking for the Hoops.
Meanwhile, not having Perch, Hall, Caulker, Onuoha or Lynch available gives Holloway some problems when selecting his defence.
