It was a good night for Charlton Athletic on Tuesday, as they picked up their second-straight win with a 1-0 victory over Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.
Chuks Aneke’s close range header with seven minutes remaining was enough to seal the win for Lee Bowyer’s side, although it is possible that things could have been so much simpler for the Addicks.
Charlton were handed a man advantage just two minutes into the game, when James Husband was shown a straight red card for bringing down Omar Bogle with the striker through on goal.
However, the Addicks then proceeded to level out the number of players on either side, with Ben Purrington picking up a red card of his by the 39th minute, for two bookable offences.
Given the advantage that Purrington cost Charlton with his dismissal, plenty of the clubs fans were perhaps not surprisingly unimpressed with the defender’s actions, as they took to Twitter to react to that red card.
Here, we take a look at what some of those Addicks supporters had to say.
He is such awful. Don’t understand we keep him since day 1

I don’t want to see him start another game

Means we don’t have to use him for two matches now 🤣

Purrington is an awful player. God knows what Lee Bowyer is doing picking him every week.

He’s so out of his depth it’s hard to watch at times

We just knew he would get a second yellow quickly after the first 0/10 for decision making

Shock! Maatsen needs match fitness asap. Doughty too good to be playing LB and Purrington just isn’t good enough.
