Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Ashley Fletcher on a permanent deal from West Ham United, mfc.co.uk has confirmed.

Boro complete the signing of Ashley Fletcher from West Ham after they agreed a £6.5m fee for him.

The Hammers let Fletcher leave the club on a permanent basis just one year after signing him from Manchester United.

The 21-year-old played 20 matches for West Ham in all competitions last season, including sixteen in the Premier League.

However, only two of those Premier League outings were starts and he found himself below the likes of Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho and Jonathan Calleri in the pecking order at West Ham.

With Javier Hernandez arriving at The London Stadium this summer, Fletcher's first team prospects look even bleaker.

Boro have handed the former England under-20 international an escape and he looks set to compete with Britt Assombalonga, Martin Braithwaite, Rudy Gestede and Patrick Bamford for the striker spots.

Here are how Boro fans reacted to this news.
