Premier League side Burnley completed the signing of Middlesbrough captain Ben Gibson earlier this week.

In an open letter tweeted by Middlesbrough, the 25-year-old defender, who made 50 appearances for Tony Pulis' side last season, bid farewell to the club 13 years after joining as a youngster.

Gibson, who signed a four-year contract at Turf Moor, will be vying for a starting spot in the Clarets central defensive positions alongside James Tarkowski and Ben Mee.

Sean Dyche has been somewhat quiet in this summer’s transfer window, but with Europa League football to offer, it was too hard for the Middlesbrough youth system product to turn down, becoming Burnley’s first signing of the summer.

Boro fans were understandably heartbroken by the departure of their captain, with many turning their attention to who can be signed by Tony Pulis to replace him.

This is how the Middlesbrough faithful reacted to the open letter on Twitter.
