Issues away from the field have dominated Aston Villa’s summer, but amid financial difficulties, the club have been preparing for the new Sky Bet Championship season.

Steve Bruce is still the man in charge at Villa Park and has been overseeing pre-season, which is slowly coming to an end, with the Championship season approaching.

Last year, Villa’s 4-1-4-1 system was so effective, but over the course of pre-season, Bruce has looked at his squad in a 3-5-2 system, as he looks to manage without a number of key personnel.

A report on the club’s official website looks at that system, identifying where players feature in Bruce’s new formation.

As expected, the report shared has received plenty of reaction, with many highlighting the problem with turning to a three-man defence…

Villa’s supporters have their doubts over Bruce’s change in formation.

For now, it looks like Villa will go into the new season playing 3-5-2, but that could all change in the coming weeks.
