Bolton owner Ken Anderson has revealed that he hopes a takeover goes through this week for the struggling Championship club.

He has been desperate to sell the club, with the fans also wanting Anderson to leave, and his latest comments on the official site suggest a deal is close.

The players were finally paid their February wages today and Anderson sent a long message to the fans that came across as his goodbye.

He covered the financial cost of managing a club in the Championship, explaining how other clubs have taken the levels of spending to extremely high levels.

Additionally, he praised the work that Phil Parkinson has done at the Trotters, along with the players, and backed them to stay up this season.

For many, these words have come too late with his previous actions too much for many to forgive.
