Luton Town have been in and around the play-off picture for a while this season, however, Saturday's victory against Sheffield United has generated even more confidence and ambition about what the rest of this campaign could possibly hold.

Sitting fourth in the Championship standings, seven points off Sheffield United in second and five points above Norwich City in seventh, promotion to the Premier League remains a real possibility.

Subsequently, Luton's extremely proactive and meticulous recruitment team will be considering options with the Premier League in mind, in case the Hatters are playing their football in the top-flight next term.

Of course, the Hatters would be looking to strengthen across the pitch if they do manage to win promotion but you would think that addressing their right-wing-back situation could be fairly high up the priority list.

Cody Drameh is only on loan from Leeds United and it remains to be seen how difficult it would be to agree a permanent deal for the 20-year-old, if the Hatters were to go down that route.

One player that could emerge on Luton's radar if they are a Premier League club next season is Max Aarons, who is no stranger to the Bedfordshire club.

Spending several years at Luton at youth-team level, a move to Norwich City came to fruition in 2016 and he enjoyed excellent progression at Carrow Road over the years.

A regular fixture in Norwich's starting XIs in recent years, Aarons has amassed over 200 appearances for the Canaries over the years, with 70 of these games coming in the Premier League.

It is unlikely that the Hatters would spend too much money in the possible scenario where they are in the Premier League next season but this is one that they could certainly pursue.

Possessing just a year left on his current deal when the summer window opens its doors for business, and the latest update from Football Insider suggesting that it is not too likely that he will sign a new deal, Norwich may be forced to lower their asking price.

Something that the Canaries may have to consider is that there is potential that the Hatters have a sell-on fee attached if Aarons was to depart anywhere else than Kenilworth Road, and that may make Luton a more favourable club to sell to.

Of course, Norwich remain in the hunt for promotion too and if the Canaries secure promotion, then there is a better chance that they can get Aarons to pen down a fresh deal.
