Barnsley seem to be edging closer to making a managerial appointment, with the Tykes still on the lookout for a replacement for Gerhard Struber.
Struber left Oakwell to become the new head coach of New York Red Bulls at the start of the month, after a poor start to the season for Barnsley.
The club are yet to make a managerial appointment, though, and they will be keen to get a new man in place as they continue to languish towards the bottom of the Championship table.
Barnsley quiz: Are these 10 facts about Oakwell true or false?
One man who looks to be a frontrunner in the race to replace Struber is Valerien Ismael. According to Football Insider, the Tykes are set to appoint the 45-year-old.
As per the BBC’s Andy Giddings, Barnsley CEO Dane Murphy says that the club have narrowed the applicants down to a final group of three managers, with Ismael confirmed to be a contender.
Two of the three coaches in that group, including Ismael, are overseas, with the other manager from England and said to be “close to home”.
Here, we take a look at Barnsley fans’ reactions to this update…

I would be more than happy with Murray. I just feel a British manager is what we need right now and he knows the club inside out.
Give him job.#barnsleyfc

It already has been drawn out. The story about New York and Struber broke 4 weeks ago. The new man should have already been appointed!
