Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the signing of John Ruddy, the club's official website has announced.

John Ruddy joins Wolves on a free transfer, having been released by Norwich City at the end of last season.

Wolves have moved to snap up the experienced goalkeeper on a two year deal, which will keep him at Molineux until the summer of 2019.

The 30-year-old has vast experience of football in the top two tiers in England.

After spells with Cambridge United and Everton (as well as numerous loan spells), John Ruddy was signed by Norwich City in 2010 and he spent seven years at the East Anglian outfit.

During this time, the 6ft 4in stopper made just shy of 250 appearances for Norwich, playing both in the Premier League and the Championship.

Ruddy also earned one cap for England during his time at Carrow Road.

Now John Ruddy follows Ryan Bennett in moving from Norwich City to Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

Ruddy was pursued by a number of teams in the top two divisions and Wolves have beaten off plenty of competition to land their man.

This included interest from the Premier League with West Ham and Brighton among the reportedly interested parties.

The former England international is expected to take the number one spot after Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme was sadly diagnosed with acute leukaemia last week.

Andy Lonergan, Harry Burgoyne and Jack Ruddy are the other three goalkeepers in Wolves' senior ranks.
