Wigan Athletic have today confirmed the loan signing of Callum Connolly on loan until the end of the season.

The Everton defender joins up with the Championship strugglers and goes straight into the squad for the Sky Bet Championship clash with Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium today.

The 19-year-old has been with Everton for over 10 years and has previously had a brief loan spell at Barnsley, helping them to promotion from League One last year.

He played 3 games for the Tykes during his one month loan stint at Oakwell.

The England under-19 international also made his Everton debut towards the end of the 2015/16 season, replacing the injured Seamus Coleman against Southampton.

Connolly comes in as right back cover with injuries to West Ham loan duo Reece Burke and Kyle Knoyle.

He will wear the number 12 shirt for the Latics as they prepare for a relegation dogfight.

Wigan fans – is Connolly a good signing? What can he offer the side? Let us know in the comments below…
