West Ham United defender Reece Burke has completed his loan move to Wigan Athletic, the club’s official website has confirmed.
The 19-year old hasn’t played in the Premier League for the Hammers, but has made two appearances in the Europa League qualifiers and one in the Premier League 2 for the club’s Under-23 side. He’s also been capped three times for England Under-20s.
Burke was on loan at Bradford last season, and was named the club’s player of that campaign after playing 34 times and scoring twice.
Naturally a centre-back, he can also play at left-back, something that may prove useful for Gary Caldwell as he looks to keep Wigan safe from relegation danger in their return to the second tier.
Burke did play in the top flight five times at the end of the 2014-15 season, and will now look to use his time at the DW Stadium to help him force himself into Slaven Bilic’s first team plans at the London Stadium.
