Championship club Sheffield United have confirmed on their official website, that they have completed a deal to bring Tottenham’s Cameron Carter-Vickers to the club on a one-year loan.

Chris Wilder has brought the American in to bolster his defensive options at Bramall Lane due to Richard Stearman reportedly being out for the next six to eight weeks.

The 19-year-old has only made a handful of first team appearances at White Hart Lane but is seen as one for the future by the club and its fans.

Upon Carter-Vickers’ arrival at the club, Wilder stated:

"He is a central defender with a good attitude and adds competition for places in that area. I like the way Tottenham play and it's clear that Cameron has the ability to be a very good player."

The defender could make his debut as early as this Saturday when United play hosts to Derby County in the Championship.

The Verdict

Anytime a Championship club can bring in a highly rated youngster from a Premier League side it is a good thing for all parties.

Carter-Vickers now gets some much needed first team football and Chris Wilder now has some depth in his team’s defence after losing a key player.

Here at FLW, we are looking forward to seeing what the 19-year-old is capable of and if he has enough about him to take his chance and become a key member of Sheffield United’s squad.
