Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have completed a deal to sign Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United, the club have confirmed on their official website.
The London-based club made a very late move to bring in the French international, deciding to match Newcastle’s staggering £30 million price tag for the player.
He signs a five-year deal at the club after flying over from training with the French international squad to complete the move.
Sissoko joined the Tyneside club in 2013 from French side Toulouse for a £1.5 million move (seeing Newcastle bring in 20 times what they paid for him) and went on to make 118 appearances for the club.
He had a poor season last year during the club’s eventual relegation from the Premier League, but impressed during his Euro 2016 campaign with France, sparking interest from the likes of Everton and Real Madrid.
The deal sees Spurs highjack Everton’s deal for the player, with the Blues having everything in place to finish the deal, but Mauricio Pochettino persevered to get the deal done in the last moments of the transfer window.
