Premier League side Stoke City have announced the signing of Josef Bursik on the club's official website.

Joe Bursik will go straight into the academy at Stoke City after joining them from AFC Wimbledon.

Bursik will pen scholar terms with Stoke City despite signing a new deal at AFC Wimbledon last January.

Having been at AFC Wimbledon since the age of eight, this is a big step in the career of the young goalkeeper.

The England under-17 international was the first choice stopper for the young Lions in the recent European under-17 Championships.

Bursik played every minute of every game as England under-17s lost on penalties in the final.

The teenage talent was one of just three members of that England under-17 squad who played outside of the Premier League.

The 16-year-old had been tipped for a bright future by AFC Wimbledon and he has now earned himself a move to the Premier League.

He follows Ryan Sweeney in swapping AFC Wimbledon for Stoke; the Republic of Ireland under-21 international defender joined the Potters last summer.

Bursik never made his debut for AFC Wimbledon but he has sat on the bench for a first team game before, despite his tender age.

Joe Bursik will officially join Stoke City on July 1st, initially as a member of their academy but his long-term goal will undoubtedly be to compete for a starting spot in the Potters' senior side.
