New Stevenage boss Teddy Sheringham has today strengthened his squad with the signing of midfielder Steven Schumacher, who joins the club from Fleetwood Town, the club’s official website has confirmed.
The 31-year-old was released by the Cod Army back in May and has signed terms with Sheringham’s side on an undisclosed-length deal.
The goalscoring midfielder brings a wealth of League Two experience to Broadhall Way having previously captained Bury and played for Fleetwood as they both secured promotion into the third tier.
In two seasons at Highbury the ex-Everton academy prospect has played 64 times for the Cod Army.
Sheringham is keen to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion this season after the club were beaten in last season’s League Two play-offs under his predecessor Graham Westley.
Schumacher also lists Bradford City, Carlisle United, Oldham Athletic and Crewe Alexandra among his former employers.
