Done Deal: Southampton secure signing of QPR striker

Premier League side Southampton have this afternoon confirmed on their official website the signing of striker Charlie Austin from Sky Bet Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

Charlie Austin has today joined Southampton
Austin was out of contract this summer coming and has long been touted for a move, attracting interest from a host of top-flight clubs over the past few months.
He has signed a four year contract with Ronald Koeman’s South Coast outfit, joining for an undisclosed fee rumoured to be around the £4 million mark.
Austin has scored 10 goals this season for the R’s, and has continued his fine form which saw him impress so much last season, where he netted 18 times in QPR’s ultimately unsuccessful Premier League campaign.
Austin will be hoping the move back to the top-flight will enhance his chances of making Roy Hodgson’s England squad for Euro 2016 championships in France in the summer.
QPR on the otherhand will more than likely look to strengthen using the funds and wages freed up, with Chelsea’s Patrick Bamford a reported target.
QPR take on Rotherham United today hoping to get a first win on the board for new manager Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink, but they will have to do that without their top striker.
QPR fans… what do you make of the news? Is this bad news or you are happy to have got a fee at least? Who would you like to see replace Austin? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
