Championship side Sheffield Wednesday have signed Middlesbrough winger Adam Reach, the club have confirmed.
The 23-year-old signs a long-term contract on deadline day for a fee believed to be around £5 million.
The Owls have been pursuing the winger all summer, along with a number of Championship sides, but were left frustrated for most of the summer as Aitor Karanka assessed him in pre-season.
It would seem with his departure that Karanka has decided he is not ready for the Premier League, and Wednesday have swooped in to win the race for his signature.
A plethora of Championship sides were eying a deal, but a number dropped off after learning of Boro’s stance on keeping him for the summer.
Reach joins Will Buckley, Almen Abdi, Ross Wallace, Marco Matias and Modou Sougou as wide options for the club, and will look to continue his form from his loan spell at Preston North End last year into his new club.
Wednesday fans…What do you make of this deal? Is Reach a good signing? Do you need more wide options? Let us know in the comments below.
