Championship side Sheffield Wednesday have signed Barnsley striker Sam Winnall, the club have confirmed.
The 25-year-old joins the club after a bright start to the season with Yorkshire rivals Barnsley scoring 11 goals in 23 appearances.
The Owls have beaten the likes of Brentford to Winnall’s signature, his club choosing to cash in on him with his contract set to run out during the summer.
Winnall was supposedly swayed to move to Hillsborough as the club offered him quadruple the wages he was on at Barnsley.
He’s the club’s second signing of the window after already bringing in Callum McManaman on loan from West Brom.
He may not be the last out-of-contract Barnsley man to sign for them this month either, with Tykes captain Conor Hourihane reportedly subject of a £1 million bid.
Winnall goes straight into the squad for Wednesday’s top six clash with Huddersfield Town tomorrow.
