Sheffield United have let winger Nathan Thomas leave on loan, the club's official website reports.

Thomas joins Notts County on loan for the entirety of the 2018/19 season.

The 23-year-old failed to make much of an impact at Sheffield United after joining from Hartlepool last summer and was made available for transfer earlier this summer.

But the Blades have opted to loan him out instead and he will be heading to League Two to join Kevin Nolan's Notts County, who were defeated in the play-off semi-finals against Coventry City last season.

Thomas earned rave reviews from his time at Hartlepool after he scored nine times in 33 games for them and this convinced Sheffield United to hand him a three-year contract following their promotion to the Championship.

The former Sunderland academy product only played three games for Sheffield United - although he did score twice - and was sent out on loan to Shrewsbury Town in January.

While with Salop, Thomas netted twice in 11 league games as they fell narrowly short of promotion via the play-offs.

The Verdict

Thomas is an excellent signing for Notts County as he will star in League Two.

But things were not working out for him at Sheffield United and Chris Wilder clearly didn't fancy him.

The flying winger is best furthering his career away from the Blades.
