Rotherham United have announced on their official Twitter account that they have swooped late to sign Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry on loan.
The youthful centre-back pens a season-long loan deal with the Championship outfit.
Aitor Karanka has sanctioned a loan move for his young defender in order to get him some regular game time at a competitive level. Middlesbrough have Bernardo Espinosa, Ben Gibson, Daniel Ayala and now Calum Chambers at their disposal so Fry will be quite far down the pecking order.
The former England under-19 international has played 8 games in total for Middlesbrough’s first team, including 7 league appearances. Fry also used to captain the Boro youth sides.
Boro’s number 22 will be hoping to compete for a first-team spot and becomes the Millers’ twelfth summer signing under Alan Stubbs. Fry is also the fifth loan capture following the arrivals of Jake Forster-Caskey, Scott Allan, Izzy Brown and Tom Adeyemi.
