Sky Bet League One side Rochdale have this morning confirmed on their official website the signing of winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing on a one-year deal.
The 23-year-old was released from fellow third tier side Peterborough United in the summer, after three years and more than 50 appearances at London Road.
Dale boss Keith Hill is looking to bolster his options as his side look to build upon their eighth place finish in League One last season, which was their first after winning automatic promotion from League Two.
Mendez-Laing, who has represented England at Under-16 and Under-17 level, began his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers, coming through the ranks at Molineux, and had loan spells at Sheffield United and Peterborough before signing permanently for Posh in the summer of 2012.
His three years at London Road included loan spells at Portsmouth, Shrewsbury Town and, more recently, Cambridge United, where he spent the second half of last season, appearing 11 times and scoring one goal.
Rochdale, currently eighth in League One after four games, host Barnsley at Spotland on Saturday.
