Reading have officially confirmed the signing of former Chelsea youngster John Swift, the midfielder signs on a three-year deal.
Swift was impressive out on loan at Brentford last season, where he averaged a goal in every 4 games in the league, hitting the back of the net 7 times in 28 matches.
The youngster, who came through Chelsea’s academy, is highly regarded by scouts across the Football League, and Reading have fought off high levels of competition.
Swift will become Reading’s 5th summer signing so far, after Anssi Jaakkola, Joey van den Berg, Joseph Mendes and Denzell Gravenberch arrived, and Jaap Stam will be delighted to have landed another of his targets early in the window.
With the ability to play all across the midfield, in a central attacking role, out wide or as a deep lying playmaker, Swift adds some much needed versatility to this Reading side.
