Reading have completed the signing of young striker Rowan Liburd on a two-year-deal, their official website has confirmed.
The 6ft 4 striker arrives from non-league side Billericay after netting 22 times for them last season between the months of November and April.
His attributes such as his turn of pace, eye for goal and aerial threat have certainly caught the attention of scouts after his impressive goal tally for the Essex club last season.
The 22-year-old will join up with Reading’s development squad with the hope that he can break into the first-team set up in the forthcoming season.
If the Royals can continue to develop the forward, he has potential to be a future star in the Championship with many other strikers such as Nouha Dicko, Benik Afobe, Britt Assombalonga and Patrick Bamford, who share similar attributes to Liburd, all flourishing in the second tier of English football.
Steve Clarke’s side will be hoping for a much better campaign after what was an abysmal season for the Royals last year, where the Berkshire club narrowly escaped relegation to the third tier.
