Reading have appointed Brian McDermott as their new manager for a second time after a hugely successful three-and-a-half year spell between 2009 and 2013, the club has confirmed on their official site.
Martin Kuhl had been in temporary charge after Steve Clarke was given the sack following a shocking set of results that saw the Royals drop from second in the table to 13th place, well outside the play-offs.
McDermott has been out of management since he was sacked as manager of Leeds United, and has been working as a scout at Arsenal since.
Many fans are delighted to see their former manager return, especially considering he is one of Reading’s most successful managers ever.
He has a talent for working with youngsters, so will be able to get the most out of players coming up from the under 21s, and the youngsters already in and around the first squad, such as Jake Cooper, Jordan Obita and Jonathan Bond.
Reading are currently 13th in the Championship but they have only won one of their last nine league games.
