James Perch has become the seventh player to sign for Queens Park Rangers this summer, the club’s official website has confirmed.
The 29-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal at Loftus Road, after the club agreed an undisclosed fee with Wigan Athletic for the player to switch to the R’s.
Throughout his career Perch has been consistent and with a strong presence in the tackle, the player could be a shrewd signing by Ramsey as he looks to challenge for promotion this season.
The R’s will undoubtedly be looking for an immediate return to the Premier League, and the addition of Perch will provide the club with an added element of versatility and experience, that will stand them in good stead for a top six spot in the Sky Bet Championship next season.
Having started his career with Nottingham Forest, the Mansfield-born defender moved to Newcastle United, before making a £700,000 switch to Wigan Athletic in 2013.
Perch will offer R’s boss Chris Ramsey versatility to his squad with the player comfortable playing anywhere across the back four, or in midfield.
Shortly after putting pen-to-paper Perch spoke to the club’s official website. He said: “It’s great to be here and to have my future sorted out.
“Les (Ferdinand) and the gaffer really sold the club to me brilliantly. They showed a great desire to bring me here, and that helped me make up my mind.
