Norwich City have sold Declan Rudd to Preston North End, reports pnefc.net.

Preston have captured Declan Rudd on a permanent deal after Norwich City agreed his sale for an undisclosed fee.

The former England under-21 international pens a three year deal with Preston.

Declan Rudd spent the entirety of last season on loan at League One side Charlton Athletic, where he impressed.

The Addicks were keen to re-sign Rudd on a permanent deal but Norwich triggered a clause in his contract which extended his deal at Carrow Road by a further twelve months.

However, shortly afterwards they have agreed to sell him to Preston.

The 26-year-old has had two loan spells at Preston previously so he is no stranger to Deepdale.

The towering and commanding 6ft 3in stopper has played 67 games in total for the Lilywhites during his loan spells and he will be looking to add to that number next season.

In fact, Rudd has played lots more games for Preston than he has for Norwich, despite joining the Canaries' academy in 1999 and making his senior breakthrough in 2008.

Following the departure of Anders Lindegaard, Declan Rudd has arrived at Deepdale to compete for the number one spot with Chris Maxwell.

At Norwich, Rudd follows fellow long-serving goalkeeper John Ruddy - who was released - out of the exit door.

This leaves Paul Jones, Michael McGovern and Remi Matthews as the three permanent goalkeepers on Norwich's books with Angus Gunn at the club on loan.

Norwich fans - what do you make of this?

Preston fans - is this a good signing?
