Done Deal: Portsmouth snap up versatile free agent

Published

on

Portsmouth have officially announced the signing of free agent Drew Talbot on their official website.

The 29-year-old becomes Portsmouth’s fourth signing of the summer after capturing Danny Rose, Matthew Clarke and Carl Baker.

Talbot is a versatile player who operates primarily at right back but is comfortable at left back, either wing and even up front.

He also brings a wealth of experience to the South Coast club having plied his trade in the lower leagues for a number of clubs such as Sheffield Wednesday, Luton and most recently Chesterfield. He made 221 league appearances for the latter in a seven year spell at the club.

Talbot has penned a two year deal with Pompey and rejoins his former manager Paul Cook, who he worked with at Chesterfield.

Portsmouth are looking to recruit early and effectively as they aim for promotion after play-off heartbreak last year.

Portsmouth fans – what do you think? Is Talbot a good signing? Who else do you need to buy?

Chesterfield fans – are you sad to see Talbot go? Do Pompey have a good player on their hands?
