Portsmouth have signed former Coventry City midfielder Adam Barton, reports the Coventry Telegraph.
The 24-year-old has penned a two-year deal with Pompey as newly-appointed Paul Cook looks to build a side that is capable of a promotion push next season.
Barton joined the Sky Blues for an undisclosed fee from Preston North End in 2012, but fell out of favour under Steven Pressley after being a regular under Andy Thorn.
He was shipped out to Fleetwood Town on loan in the second half of the 2013-14 season but failed to make an appearance for the Cod Army.
The midfielder’s future looked bleak at the Ricoh Arena until he came out of the cold in October and went on to make 30 appearances last season.
Barton made 63 appearances for Coventry, scoring three goals, but was released at the end of the season along with seven others.
The Northern Ireland international becomes Portsmouth’s sixth signing of the summer.
