Done Deal: Portsmouth pull off remarkable coup for free agent

Published

on

Portsmouth have announced the official signing of free agent Milan Lalkovic following the expiry of his contract with Walsall.

The winger, who can also play up front, rejected a new deal with the Saddlers, and joins Portsmouth instead for an agreed compensation package.

The former Slovakian youth international brings a lot of flair, skill, pace and excitement to his new South Coast club and Pompey will be hoping that his performances can help drive the club towards promotion.

Lalkovic graduated from the Chelsea academy but moved on without making a senior appearance.

The 5’9” wide man moved to Mlada Boleslav in Czech Republic where he played 6 times before joining Barnsley on a free.

From there he rejoined Walsall – where he had enjoyed a loan spell during his Chelsea days.

The 23-year-old becomes Portsmouth’s sixth summer signing already as they look to get business done early. Matt Clarke, Danny Rose, Carl Baker, Drew Talbot and Michael Smith have all joined up with Pompey this summer already.

Pompey fans – what do you think? Is Lalkovic a good signing? Who do you want to sign next?
