Plymouth Argyle have agreed a deal to sign Fleetwood Town striker Jamille Matt on loan until the end of the season, the club have confirmed on their official website.

Jamille Matt

Matt, who has 14 goals in his 56 appearances for the Cod Army, is having a tough time this season, able only to net three times.

Formerly of Kidderminster Harriers, the 25-year-old earned his move to Highbury following eight goals in eight games during the 2012-13 season, and spent eight games on loan at Stevenage earlier this season.

Plymouth boss Derek Adams has previously accused his side of not being ruthless enough, but he has tried to address the issue in the January transfer window and current loan window.

After bringing in Daniel Nardiello at the end of January, Adams signed midfielder Jordan Houghton from Chelsea earlier this week.

Their season has come to a standstill, after being top at Christmas, they now find themselves in third place, 13 points off leaders Northampton.

The Pilgrims travel to Accrington this weekend as they look to close the gap on league leaders Northampton while also extending the gap between themselves and fourth-placed Portsmouth.

Plymouth fans…What do you think? Can Matt fire you back towards Northampton? Will you achieve promotion this season? Let us know in the comments below!
