Plymouth Argyle have confirmed the signing of Reading’s Craig Tanner on loan until January 2nd, their official website has confirmed.
New Argyle manager Derek Adams was impressed with the tricky striker when he played for the Reading Under 21’s in their pre-season friendly against the Pilgrims a couple of weeks ago.
Despite missing a penalty that day, his stunning performance certainly caught the eye of boss Derek Adams as well as Home Park supporters.
Tanner already has experience of life in League Two after spending time at AFC Wimbledon last season. He also made his first appearance for the Royals in their round one Capital One Cup tie against Newport County, notching the fastest goal in Madejski Stadium history in a 3-1 win for them.
Tanner, who becomes the Pilgrims’ seventh summer signing, is another player that will increase the options new manager Derek Adams has to choose from. After coming so close to promotion last season, Tanner could certainly help increase their chances of promotion this season.
